As befits someone who has a background in, and passion for, fine arts Suzi Buki creations are imbued with an artful elegance. With a love of artists such as Tamara Lempicka it's no surprise that her work is infused with a painterly palette which is self-evident through the richness of the textures and colours which are imprinted within each design.
Allied with a commitment to refined, perfectly proportioned tailoring which leans into traditional techniques and motifs, what further distinguishes Suzi Buki is that her creations are underpinned and imbued with a core principle to empower not only the wearer but also her team of artisans.
As she says "I have the most unique design team, we love working together. We are like a family; we have known each other for years and we know how we all work. The whole concept of Suzi Buki is a social enterprise as it gives artisans an opportunity to show their skills. Custom batiks are made for us by artisans in the community. This keeps traditional techniques alive and provides employment for people".
Explaining the inspiration behind her AW22 womenswear collection, Suzi went on to explain.
"The Avatar" collection explores an alternative person who is your essence, everything that a woman ideally sees herself to be. I want to make women feel empowered by their femininity as women have a lot to offer the world and its good for the world to recognize that".
In summing up how she wants the women who wears pieces from her “Avatar” collection to feel when they put on one of the garments Suzi said
"Every woman wants to be beautiful but every woman also wants to be confident and fierce. This is who I'm talking about, a certain woman. The Suzi Buki woman wearing the Avatar collection is a certain woman".
